My primary research interests lie in the study of our planet’s interior. Specifically, I aim to contribute to our understanding of how the physical and chemical conditions of magma assembly influence the timings and styles of volcanic eruptions. My approach is rooted in petrology and field geology - I interpret chemistries and textures of igneous rocks and the components within them (minerals and glasses), and I’ve designed my work to include insight gained from dynamic and physical modeling methods. My previous and planned work is split between modern volcanoes, ancient systems, and experimental scenarios across tectonic and chemical environments on Earth. Monitoring volcanoes and studying eruption products providesa unique opportunity to interrogate the interior of our planet. Increasing our understanding of Earth’s interior is paramount for the assessing of related surface hazards, the evaluation of critical material resources, and for our understanding of the formation and evolution of rocky bodies
